Food connects
Rahn Education promotes the the cultural, political and humanistic exchange between schools in Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Russia among others. There is also a particularly strong commitment in Egypt and Israel.
Within the city, we maintain an exchange with the Israelitische Religionsgemeinde zu Leipzig as well as the cultural centre Ariowitsch-Haus e.V. and strive to maintain awareness of Jewish culture here in the city of Leipzig. We see the opening of the Campus Café Salomon as our mitzvah for the Jewish residents of Leipzig.
What's particularly important to us: Everyone is welcome! -
What to expect at Campus Café Salomon
Vegetarian dishes do not mean just eating lettuce, as some mockingly claim. Since it is a plant-based form of nutrition, the creation of dishes is based on the diverse range of fruit and vegetables. Popular side dishes are fermented soy products such as tofu, seitan, tempeh etc. The café offers various casserole and pasta dishes.
The Jewish cuisine is very diverse and in Café Salomon is of course prepared, as tradition requires, under the rabbinic supervision of a "Maschgiach" - the kashrut expert.
Compliance with kosher food laws requires that meat and milk products are stored and prepared separately from each other and must not be served on the same dishes. For this reason, no meat is offered in the café. Instead, delicious traditional Matzah balls, Israeli hummus, spinach casserole and various fish dishes are available.
For a vegan diet, no products of animal origin or products produced with animal products are used in the dishes. Milk, eggs and honey are not consumed. Vegans will get their money's worth with oven-fresh sweet potatoes, various delicious soups and creative salad creations.
The caterer Jakow Kerzhner and his team place great importance on the traditional preparation of the kosher menu and offer a variety of dishes all day. -
