1. Who has to attend a preparatory college?

Foreign applicants who wish to study at a university in Germany and for whom direct university admission is not possible must pass the assessment test before commencing their studies. Our Studienkolleg prepares you for this assessment test in 10 months.

2. What requirements must I fulfil for admission?

When you register, please submit the following documents to us as proof of fulfilment of the requirements:

 Documents

3. How do I obtain conditional pre-admission to a degree programme?

You must submit a conditional pre-admission to a degree programme from one of the universities in Saxony-Anhalt, for example Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, the University of Halle, the University of Magdeburg, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences or Köthen University of Applied Sciences. It is practical to use the uni-assist university application system for this.

4. What fees should I expect to pay?

Our tuition fees are very low compared to other private Studienkollegs. You can see the overview of fees in the fee table.

5. Is the tuition fee refundable?

A refund of the tuition fee is only possible with written cancellation up to two weeks before the start of the semester, with a deduction of € 900.

6. When do I have to transfer the tuition fee deposit by?

Payment must be made before the start of the respective semester (1 April or 1 October). The earlier you pay, the sooner your place at our Studienkolleg is secured. In our experience, the T-courses are particularly popular and sometimes fill up several weeks before the start of the semester - we therefore recommend early registration.

7. What is the deadline for registration?

We recommend applying as early as possible, ideally 4-5 months before the start of the semester. This will give you enough time to compile all the documents and, if necessary, obtain further test reports or admissions and also apply for a visa. You should register at least 6 weeks before the start of the semester in order to get a place at the Studienkolleg.

8. Where and how is the FSP certificate recognised?

With the FSP certificate from the Studienkolleg Halle of Rahn Education, you receive a higher education entrance qualification for all state and private universities of applied sciences and universities in Germany.  This is valid for subjects in your chosen specialisation T-course or W-course.

9. How do I get through the FSP as safely as possible?

You will have 30 hours of lessons per week. Your attendance in class, completion of homework and exercises and diligent self-study are extremely important to us. The demands in lessons and examinations are often higher than in your home country. We support you with tips, hints, additional tasks and study groups. Only learning and knowledge will give you confidence!

10. What is the FSP process?

The FSP final examinations take place at the end of the 2nd semester in our Studienkolleg in Halle (internally), in writing in all main subjects, and there is also an oral examination for certain grades. The lecturers will prepare you sufficiently for the examination level and content in all subjects during the course of your studies.

11. What happens after I pass the FSP?

If you have passed the FSP, you are now in the application phase for the summer or winter semester. Depending on what your future university of applied sciences or university offers, you can apply for your degree programme within the application period immediately after receiving your certificate.

12. What happens if I don't pass the FSP?

The Studienkolleg regulations provide for various models for repeating the Studienkolleg and also the FSP. You have a total of 2 attempts to pass an FSP. At our Studienkolleg, we will advise you accordingly on alternatives if the successful completion of the FSP is at risk.

13. What if I don't want to study later?

We support you in selecting suitable vocational training programmes that suit you and in preparing your application documents.
There are currently more than 300 recognised vocational training courses in Germany.

14. Can I only complete the 2nd semester at the Studienkolleg of Rahn Education in Halle?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Our Studienkolleg regulations stipulate that the 1st and 2nd semesters must always be completed consecutively at our Studienkolleg.
However, it is possible to start in the 2nd semester at the private preparatory college of Rahn Education in Leipzig.

15. What proof do I need for an exemption in German?

To be exempt from the German exam, you need one of the following certificates:

"German language test for university entrance", level 2 (DSH 2)
