European Foundation for Education and Culture at Zielona Gora

The Foundation’s office is located in the heart of the city, right next to the "Focuspark" retail centre. Pupils can attend any of the three school forms offering general education from primary school (classes 1 to 6) through the Polish Gimnazjum (initial secondary, classes 7 to 9) right up to the Liceum (upper secondary), which leads to the Matura (university entrance exams).

The Foundation also runs the official Goethe-Institut examination centre in the Lubusz Province on the same site.

The Foundation’s objective is to encourage democratic, international values in all aspects of education for children and young people, as well as adults. Particular emphasis is placed on integration in the interests of Europe. The German-Polish cooperation, in particular between the regions of Brandenburg and the Lubusz Province, aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge of the respective other language, culture and society and thus to make a positive impact on cross-border relations.

A key element in this context is also the "German-Polish Education Bridge" established by the Rahn schools in Neuzelle and Zielona Gora. In the past three years, this EU-sponsored project has facilitated more than 60 meetings, seminars and other activities between teachers and pupils of the two countries.
